Rome City Schools is pleased to announce that all district schools will safely reopen for face-to-face instruction on Monday, September 30, 2024. After a thorough assessment of all facilities by the RCS Crisis Management Team, all buildings are ready to welcome back students and staff.
In addition to confirming the readiness of school facilities, RCS would like to inform our community that all scheduled events will continue as planned throughout the weekend. Additional information will be provided soon for any events that were canceled due to recent weather conditions.

Rome City Schools has continued to work closely with state and local officials as we monitor the impact of Hurricane Helene. At this time, we are planning to have normal operations on Thursday. This includes after-school activities on Thursday unless otherwise noted. Based on the latest information, school operations will be affected on Friday, Sept. 27. In alignment with our Keeping Schools Safe Initiative, Friday will be an Independent Learning Day for all of Rome City Schools. Students and staff don't report to school. They will work from home. There will be no after-school activities on Friday. Please stay safe and remain weather aware during this time. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

Rome City Schools remains dedicated to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students, staff, and visitors. As part of our ongoing commitment, we’re continuing to reinforce key safety measures. Additionally, we urge families to be mindful of their children’s online activity and monitor their social media usage.
Please refer to the attached safety information for more details on our Keeping Schools Safe Initiative.
Rome City Schools has collaborated with local and state law enforcement to thoroughly investigate any and all threats. We’ve worked closely with these agencies to ensure our schools maintain a strong safety focus, as we’ve done throughout the year.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe and secure learning environment for our students and community.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 21, and the Farmers’ Market for Families at the Parent Resource Center. There will be free produce and a free children’s book while supplies last. The event is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and includes a craft station and petting zoo for kids, music, a community resource fair, and more. We can’t wait to see everyone there. #ReimagineRCS

Help us keep our students safe! 🛑 Georgia’s new law, Addy's Law (House Bill 409), has increased fines for passing a stopped school bus. Please remember to STOP when you see a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. Let's work together to protect our children. #AddysLaw #SchoolBusSafety #RCSSafetyTips
